Life at the Distads has had its ups and downs in the past four weeks. Matt attended a friends parents funeral, I had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder followed by another procedure the following day to remove the 9mm gallstone lodged in my bile duct, Matt had finals, and now Harrison has the croup. On the upside, we ate some yummy fried chicken, planted some vegetables in the garden, went on a nice country drive on a warm and sunny day, and Harrison's croup has drastically decreased in intensity.
Both Matt and I can't wait for summer to roll around. Taking Harrison to the beach! Berry picking! Swimming! the ZOO! and maybe even a vacation house rental?? Hood River or somewhere along the coast. We deserve to relax a little. All three of us.

eight months
Harrison has really changed since the last blog posting. He's eating essentially anything you feed him, and what a mess it is to clean up after him. If we had to guess what his favorite thing to eat is, it would probably be guacamole. The garlic-ier the better!
He's currently enjoying the company of his baby pals during Saturday swim class, his baby pals on Mondays & Thursdays at our local library for storytime with the librarians, and any other babies he may encounter at our local gyms daycare center while mom & dad exercise. He's still not crawling, but he enjoys sitting while the other babies play. He's an observer, but when at home he's a zoomer. He zooms around the house like nobody's business in his baby walker!
Harry visited Screen Door for brunch and had himself some biscuits and sausage gravy! and a couple nights later had some spaghetti with bolognese sauce, and anytime he see's his favorite snack (Cheerio's) he's this happy.

Life is definitely moving into the toddler years.

Swimming!!!!! - week 1
I can't believe this day finally happened!! Harrison's officially a Hillsboro Angelfish. While I was pregnant all I could think about was how fun infant swim class would be.....and let me tell you. It was pretty cute.

Christmas 2012 ***Our first Family Christmas***
December 2012 was pretty busy. Not only was it Harrison's first Christmas, Matt was accepted into Portland States Graduate School of Electrical Engineering for fall 2013 admission, Jonas had multiple vet visits only to discover he has kidney and spinal issues and with the help of medication he's stabilizing, Lucy's getting to know Harrison and is trying really hard to adjust to life as number four in the Distad household, and I'm still trying to adapt to life as a mom. I really cannot believe how quickly a day zooms by with Harry around, and how quickly a clean house can become a hoarders mecca!
We celebrated Christmas four times this year. Christmas with the Distad Family at Aunt Julianne's the weekend before the holiday, Christmas dinner with the Allens (Allison made the most delicious stuffed shells), our own family Christmas on the 29th, and finally Skype Christmas with the Bingham-Grimes Grammies. Oh yeah!.........and oh course the Schulberg Christmas Party which was filled with friends, laughs, and presents!!!!!
