Harrison visited Hood River today. He did an excellent job riding in the car, and hanging out at the Full Sail Brewery. Thanks for the lovely birthday afternoon boys.

21 days old
It's been.......it's been......a little stressful around the Distad household these past few days. Harrison's pediatrician had some good news and bad news for us. He's finally surpassed his birth weight. YAY!!!! Bad news: he has to see an ENT specialist about his tongue and a possible cyst in his ear. Gosh darn it!
On my way home from Harrison's appt I was pulled over for talking on my cell to Matt about his appt. and this all happened on my 29th birthday. I explained the situation to the officer who seemed sympathetic, but then alas.....he wasn't. One hundred and ten bucks later I cried big crocodile tears all the way home. To top off the day, the birthday card MJ gave me this year says, "Hope your day is full of surprises!" MJ felt so bad about the card after hearing about my day that he decided to cook dinner which was terrible. His words words not mine.
Now to day 21 of Harrison's little life. It started off with some sleeping, crying, pooping, peeing, diaper changing, and a little projectile vomiting. Followed by a sweet relaxing car ride to 5 Guys Burgers and Frys where his parents devoured a thousand calories each. Mmmmm burgers. After that he took a stroll over at the Amberglen Corporate Park where he decided to it was time to take a nap under a well groomed oak tree. It seems day 21 was full of everyday normalities and a few new adventures.

tired.
Oh how tired we are.....
....if you can believe this we are still making our meals from scratch even though we're incredibly tired. As I type this Matt's chopping celery, boiling potatoes, and eggs for a bbq we're attending tomorrow. Why we insist on making ourselves cranky is beyond me. And by the way, simply buying the bloodly potato salad from costco is probably a whole lot cheaper too.
I know people tell you to "Sleep when the baby sleeps." But, if we did that we'd be asleep most of the day, and then how would we make our meals?

crying is his thing
No, no, no....he's not colicky. He's perplexed and angry. My theory is gas is the main problem. If your body was trapped with a never ending supply of gas you'd be pretty pissed and confused too.

12 days old
During yesterdays stroll Matt and I ventured over to Brookwood Elementary, and stopped to play a little hop-scotch. As we were leaving we noticed the schools reader board said June 12th the schools hosting "field day". Matt asked, "Whats field day?" I stopped dead in my tracks and said, "Oh yeah! You never got to experience the joys of Field Day since you were home schooled. Field day is the day all kids look forward to the entire year. It's the coolest, most fun day. It usually involves water balloons and candy!" This is Harrison reaction to us discussing driving past the school to see field day.

dad and baby
Harrison and Matt getting ready to roll. I have a sneaking suspicion that by the end of the summer Matt and I will be trim if not slim.
Harrison's strapped into his carseat ready for an adventure at eleven days old.

the life change.....baby
Hey Friends!.........after a long nine months baby Harrison Carter Distad arrived May 30, 2012 at 12:29am. Weighing 8 pounds 1.5 ounces, and 21 inches long.
My pregnancy wasn't the best experience I've ever had, and it wasn't the worst. If I had to give it a value from one to ten. Ten being awesomely great and one being the worst. My pregnancy was a 3. I'm glad to have Harrison, but I will never go through that again! Having little HD around has created a totally new experience and bond between Matt and myself. Watching Matt with the little guy is heartwarming (uggg! yuk I know, but seriously his response and joy to Harrison is truly sweet).
Harrison's now seven days old and he's doing well. Over his last seven days of life he's seen a doctor everyday. Who new newborns needed so many doctors appointments???? I know he had to go under special circumstances, but even non-needy newborns have a few visits during this time. Harrison's now doing great. Eating! Pooping! Peeing! Sleeping!
Now for the cats....Jonas and Lucy are doing surprisingly well. Just this morning Harrison woke up at 5am with a wet diaper. Matt got up to change him while I tried to go back to sleep through the crying (Harrison doesn't like being exposed. Maybe he's modest?). With the morning dawn light bleeding through the window shades Lucy hops up on the bed to awake me. She first squeaks a tiny meow followed by a very strong headbutt to my forehead. When I opened my eyes she gave me this stern look; as if to say, "Can't you hear Harrison crying!! Go do something about it. I looked at her and said, "Ok. Ok. I'm up." She looked satified with herself, as if to say, "Yeah. I did that." Jonas is cautious, but interested in him. He likes to view him from afar. If Harrison's on the sofa Jonas' across the room viewing him silently.
